Challenge

Our challenge was to uncover two key dimensions. First, to capture detailed feedback on the practical aspects of injection device preferences, including usability and appeal. Second, it had to delve into the emotional and psychological needs of individuals living with HIV, ensuring that the device resonated with their personal and social needs.  As a well as producing a detailed, solution driven PowerPoint report, we also wanted to bring to live participants voices by creating a video that authentically represented participant insights, while maintaining their anonymity.

Solution

The study was conducted in the US with a sample of 25 people living with HIV, representing a diverse range of genders, ages, and therapy experiences. The approach included:

  • Recruitment by the in-house recruitment team, with fantastic connections with HIV support service

  • 60-minute, in-person interviews, conducted at a homely and discreet viewing facility, to facilitate participants to air their views and needs openly

  • Skilled qualitative moderators using tact, sensitivity, and dynamic techniques to cover both emotional and practical topics during the sessions

Results

The research provided comprehensive insights into the social, emotional, and therapeutic needs of people living with HIV, as well as their thoughts on what would be their ideal drug delivery device. Our written report, insights presentation, and a carefully crafted summary video, including participants accounts, gave our client necessary insights, recommendations and the confidence to refine their device.
